Welcome to W.D. Williams Elementary School! We are a K-5 school  located in the beautiful Swannanoa Valley.  I feel fortunate to be part of such a great community of educators and families.

I graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Elementary Education and spent the next 17 years as a classroom teacher.  My career path transitioned when I became an Instructional Coach for Buncombe County and enjoyed numerous years as a Site Director for our BCS Summer Reading Camps. I was honored to receive a Transforming Principal Preparation Program (TP3) scholarship from North Carolina, so that I could receive my master’s degree in School Administration from Western Carolina University.  I love this profession and am excited for this new chapter!

I hope that you will take some time to visit our site and let us know if you have any questions. We are here to help our students prepare for their tomorrow.
At W.D. Williams we strive to “Be our BEST and do our BEST!” Go Warponies!

I am so excited to join the Owen District as the Assistant Principal at both W.D. Williams and Black Mountain Primary.  I am looking forward to getting to know the people of this great community and to serve you and your children.  I am grateful to be a part of your children's educational experience.

Before coming to the Owen District, I was a 1st and 3rd grade teacher at Avery's Creek Elementary in the Roberson District. I then was privileged to serve teachers as an Instructional Specialist in the Enka and Erwin Districts.  I have been a part of Buncombe County Schools since 2004-how time flies!

I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Asheville with a degree in History and licensure in Elementary Education.  I then received my Masters in Elementary Education from Montreat College. Finally, I went back to school to get my School Adminstration licensure from Western Carolina University.
I consider myself a learner, a servant, and an inspired leader.  I look forward to becoming a part of the Owen district family and inspiring our students to become leaders of their interests and passions.
