BCS Volunteer Information

As a volunteer, you are an important part of the school community. The school board recognizes the valuable contributions that school volunteers make to the learning process and the educational goals of the school system. Instructional programs are enhanced through the contributions of students’ parents, community members, and local business and industry. These volunteers contribute time, resources, and expertise that assist the school system to reach the goal of providing a sound basic education to all children.

Qualifications

  • Availability, dependability, reliability, friendliness and flexibility.

  • Special talents or abilities that help to enrich the school program.

  • Recognition that accepting an assignment is a serious commitment.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding students and school personnel.

  • A desire and interest in working with children and youth.

  • A willingness to learn and to follow directions while working with students.

  • Volunteers comply with policy 5020, Visitors to the Schools

Application

All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application and abide by volunteer rules and procedures. Please visit the BCS School Directory page and contact the principal or secretary at the school for a link to the application.

Level I Volunteers

Level II Volunteers

  • Do not volunteer more than one time per week.

  • Do not have unsupervised contact with students.

  • Level I Volunteers may help with PTO/PTA fundraising activities, testing proctors, athletic concession sales, school field days, and school beautification projects.

  • Volunteer more than one time per week.

  • Have unsupervised contact with students.

  • Must have a clear background check.

  • Must have adequate reference checks.

  • Level II Volunteers may work in the classroom, serve as reading and math tutors, extracurricular coaches, and field trip chaperones.
