Listening and Learning at Candler Elementary

Dr. Jackson spent another great day on his 45 schools tour, meeting all the Cool Cats of Candler Elementary!

Candler Elementary School (CES) is located in the Enka Community. The dedicated staff at CES believes that a child's education is enhanced by a partnership between home, school, and community; by instruction focused on individual needs; and by a respect for personal strengths, talents, and cultural diversity.

“Candler Elementary has a long history and deep roots in the Candler community,” said Principal Charlotte Club. “At Candler Elementary, we are made up of a diverse group of learners, this year representing ten different cultures. At CES, we believe individuals become good global citizens when expectations are high, and we are all held accountable for academic and personal success. Because of our belief in a global community, we started the first Dual Language immersion program in the Enka district five years ago, which begins in Kindergarten and goes through 4th grade. Students in the program leave CES bi-lingual and bi-literate in Spanish. At Candler Elementary, we also believe that a safe, supportive, and inviting school environment is essential for student learning, and we are proud of the positive behavior incentive program that we offer students.”

Through teamwork and high expectations, they provide an environment in which learning becomes a lifelong pursuit for students and staff. CES has approximately 380 students, grades kindergarten through fourth.
