Weaverville native and University of Tennessee Lady Vols softball star Karlyn Pickens is coming home this winter to inspire the next generation of athletes. The Kamp Karlyn Pickens Winter Clinic will take place on Sunday, December 7, at North Buncombe Middle School, offering an unforgettable opportunity for girls ages 7-16 to learn from one of the nation’s best.
A 2022 graduate of North Buncombe High School, Karlyn has made waves on the national stage as the Lady Vols’ dominant pitcher, even holding the record for the fastest pitch in women’s softball. Now she’s bringing her passion and expertise back to the community that helped shape her.

Joining Karlyn will be several of her Lady Vols teammates, helping participants sharpen their skills through pitching, hitting, and fielding drills. The camp will conclude with an autograph session, giving young players the chance to meet their hometown hero up close.
“Coming home to where it all started means everything to me,” said Pickens. “I grew up playing youth league, middle and high school softball here, and have so many great memories. It’s important to remember where you come from, and by doing so I can give back to the girls in this area who are Karlyn fans.”

Spaces are expected to fill quickly for this special event celebrating hard work, hometown pride, and the spirit of the game.
