LOOK WHAT WE HAVE BEEN UP TO...

Students in Mrs. Peek's "Exploring Childcare" class gained some serious life skills this week through "The Business of Babysitting." Seventh graders underwent the process of seeking work as a childcare provider, from writing resumes and participating in an on-the-spot interview with an adult, to exercising Covid-era etiquette and writing follow-up thank yous. Mrs. Peek, who is also the FCCLA sponsor, stressed the importance of preparing students on the cusp of seeking employment: "The mock interview experience really gives students confidence in being able to speak professionally. The life skills they are learning are invaluable."

When will fall temps drop? Are we in for a snowy winter? Ask one of Mrs. Moore's 7th graders! Over the past two weeks, students enriched their knowledge of meteorology by crafting their very own weather tools. Students repurposed household items into wind vanes, rain gauges, barometers, psychrometers and anemometers. Over a 4-day period, students used their tools to collect data. Then they compared their findings with data from a local weather station, allowing them to evaluate the accuracy of their own hand-made tools.
