The following are areas where volunteers are needed throughout the school year. Please consider volunteering your time to support North Buncombe Middle School. Volunteers for events will typically be recruited by Signup Genius, using your email address for the invitation to volunteer. PTO PRESIDENT presides at monthly PTO meetings. Both co-presidents shall appoint/monitor the chairperson of all committees.

PTO co-TREASURER supports treasurer responsibilities.

HOSPITALITY TEAM appreciating our NBMS staff (primarily August back-to-school picnic lunch,November Thanksgiving buffet, April Administrative Professionals Day, May Teacher Appreciation Week)

DINNER co-COORDINATOR coordinates with local restaurant to offer a few meal deals (PTO fundraiser)over the course of the school year

FUNDRAISING chairperson(s) to oversee Fall fundraiser, plus volunteers a few hours one day in August for Fall fundraiser kickoff, two school days in September to collect/verify Fall fundraiser sales, one day in October for order pickup and another for fundraiser rewards

PTO Store - Spirit attire/item sales at various school-related functions throughout school year

HONOR ROLL reward honor roll students three times per school year

NEWSLETTER create/issue PTO newsletter four times per school year (summer, fall, winter,spring)

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR secures needed volunteers for PTO and school events, yearlong as requested

PTO FACEBOOK PAGE manage and post PTO news throughout school year


Events during the year when volunteers will be needed: 

Hospitality events -  assist coordinators with set up & execution of meals/refreshments for staff & student functions or donate supplies/food - Opportunities throughout the year

Fundraising -  help collect orders, distribute sales items & count money for annual fundraiser

Book Fair -  set up/break down, assist with sales (during school hours)

Dinner Night Coordinator/helpers  - sale & distribution of meals prior to evening school functions - help set up, serve, clean up

Honor Roll - Assist in supervision/planning for events celebrating students on the honor roll

Eblen Pumpkins – Count money & track giving for Eblen Foundation pumpkin sales – October   

Chilly Challenge -  Help organize race, Volunteer at the race (Sat), Help with sponsors, Help with volunteers, Make or serve chili  

NWR vs NBMS staff volleyball game - help with ticket sales, refreshment sales; set up, and clean up.

EOG proctors - one time commitment in the spring only.  (Monitor students during testing - teacher present at all times)
